Bats

(around 2008 I think)

The bats made of tin foil
were swarming below the ceiling
when the garden hose coil
gave them the sudden feeling

that they were about to be
excommunicated in a big hurry
down the road to the sea
and they would no longer be furry.

each bat carried one hour
in the form of a box of goo
but they were about to come down in a
         shower
there was nothing they could do
because the day was already over.
