Most recent paintings
Recently I’ve been on some treasure hunts at my day job and other places. I’ve been collecting photos of things that remind me of what I previously drew and painted for years, using my imagination and in-direct memory. These paintings are made from those images in order to get much closer to my original source material.
Oil on canvas, 18 x 24
I was sitting at the dinner table at Moms house and I took a picture of my fork because I was in love with its shiny metal curvy shapes. Inspired by the movie “Honey I shrunk the kids”, I painted it much larger than life.
Museum parking lot guard booth sliding door mechanism
Oil on canvas, 18 x 24
I found this tiny mechanism during one of my daily treasure hunts. It’s only a few inches
high and it supports the sliding door to the guard booth in the parking lot. After a long time working on this painting I finally resolved it by painting out
the door that hangs from the mechanism.
