Pedestals

Mahogany Pedestals await the
transformation, beneath their
massive table legs, of the rug
into the sea.

For they shall become runways
for the delicate spidery birds to take
off from when the sea no longer
supports their legs.

and they the spidery will carry boxes of
secret messages strapped to their
buzzing backs across the threatening
sea to the main-land message
decoding machines.
