Dear Self:  I am the secretary of the Union for the Guards at the Museum of Fine arts in Boston. Dear self: does it matter that the boat in the picture is one that was actually built by the same person that made the picture? does it matter that that very boat is also sailed often by the same person that made the picture of the boat? Does the meaning and significance of the picture change in the viewers mind when the viewer learns the story of the history that gave rise to the picture? or does a picture have to stand on purely visual non verbal terms? or why not both at once? does it even matter what the viewer thinks? don't over think it man, but maybe you can actually say things with pictures instead of just making pictures for the sake of making pictures, things you couldn't find the words to say for a long time until the picture was staring at you in the face. The picture was always there for a long time, it just needed to be painted.
